Fool of a Took!

I did it. I finally finished Lord of the Rings. By far one of the best films I've seen. It's only taken me 9 months to do it. There's a lot of stuff I could have done in that time like produce a spawn - but there's plenty of folk already doing that so I've no need to jump on that particular bandwagon.

Want proof? Well, I can't really give you any but here's Frodo looking terrified whilst he battles a huge spider:

So, that's one thing off of my New Years resolution list. That's right. One thing. Ok, so I was never going to be any good at keeping them. The gym thing is pretty much dead in the water. I've not even graced Virgin Active with my presence let alone wrapped my sweaty little fingers around the rowing machine or the jiggly power plates which, by the way, are frikken killers! As for the whole blogging thing... well this is my first update in almost a month. So... yeah.

However, the crap tonne of movies is actually going to plan. I've seen (brace yourself for an exciting list):

  • Fantastic Mr Fox - really good actually
  • Rango
  • Devil - Worst. Acting. Ever. Apart from the crazy Spanish dude.
  • Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows
  • Jackass 3
  • Jackass 3.5
  • Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
  • The Dark Knight
  • Lord of the Rings (it totally counts!)
  • Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Yeah, so it's not a huge list but it's probably more films than I watched in all of 2011. Mock me if you will.

Finished? Fantastic.

I've also discovered I'm terrible at saving. I just like to buy things. I have bought 3 jackets, 3 (or 4/5. I forget) pairs of shoes, jewellery, super squishy mattress topper and 2 new prints. Plus a crap tonne of other stuff I've forgotten about. Sigh.

And. By far one of the best things I've done since moving to Edinburgh, was eat at Illegal Jack's. Holy crap is their food the best. Go there. Go there NOW! Bring me back a burrito.

Nom.

Monday 2 January 2012

Hello New Year, you sexy beast.

It's come to my attention that not only do I suck at blogging but I'm also stupidly lazy. So lazy that I spent the last 2 days in my jammies at my friends house to only come home and jump right back into bed. I have come to the exciting conclusion that things need to change.

Of course everyone says "oh my goooossh! It's a new year and it will be a new me". Shut up. You don't need a new year to change the things you want to change. Having said that, I'm willing to hold my hands up and admit that yes, that is also my plan. Pot, kettle eh?

So, my new year resolutions are as follows (hold onto your hats, things are about to get exciting!):

  • Get fit
I'd actually considered cancelling my gym membership but glancing over at the A3 size box filled with chocolate, I have decided that that probably isn't a wise choice. It's something I've been meaning to do for ages. I used to look like this:
Minus all the bangles and the slight weird look I've got going on there, I'd like to be roughly that size again.

  • Be more spontaneous
I've been pretty boring the past few years. Done nada and only been on one holiday in the past 9 years. This year will be the year I pack bags and run off for long weekends at a moments notice. I will enjoy life and be happier. I'm fed up sulking.
  • Blog
I had every intention during my final year of uni to write this damn blog every week. Not for other people, but for myself. Kinda like a diary so I could read it back and laugh at how stupid I thought my problems were. I'm pretty sure my only concern was if I had batteries for my dictaphone - my day was ruined without it.
So my plan is to now at least keep it half updated. It will have no theme (and forever float around in the blogosphere) as per usual and will continue to be my usual ramblings.
  • Watch a crap tonne of movies
I'm usually the butt end of most peoples proddings when it comes to someone who has barely seen any films. Ask me about Family Guy or Bilko and I'll be able to talk to someone without a problem about it. But films that are actually modern and new releases, no sir! Put it this way - I started watching the Lord of the Rings film in May. I still haven't finished it.
So, thanks to Amazon's Black Friday deals last month, I have a 6 month subscription to LoveFilm.
  • Finish Lord of the Rings
As above. I figured as I hadn't actually finished it, I should make this a resolution too.

  • Sort out my pennies
Nothing majorly exciting but I have been a bit too frivolous with money last year and it's got to stop this year. Get out of the ol' overdraft and start saving.

    This picture says it all...

Doable? Ah, sure.
